 Kenneth's a Wolf! Posted on 24 May 07

Kenneth Hansen has been named as the replacement for Theo Pijper at Wolves and makes his debut at Monmore Green in the bank holiday Monday clash with Belle Vue.  This is a big step up for him and he has an affinity with the place with family and friends including former Wolves Lars Munkedal and Jan Staechmann.  What Kenneth will give to the side is hunger, determination, ambition and raw desire to do well and we all hope that he can hit it off with the Wolves fans as soon as possible.

Elite League next up? Posted on 22 May 07

Following an unfortunate scaphoid injury which ruled Kenneth out for a few weeks at Workington it is apparent now that he will not be returning to the Comets line-up.  It seems that Kenneth is about to sign for an Elite League side and may make his debut for his new side next week.  More on Kenneth's thoughts on the Workington situation very soon but expect some forthright views!

Kenneth struggling for fitness Posted on 14 Apr 07

After a run of meetings this week which included a fall in Kenneth's 3rd ride at Birmingham on Wednesday, Kenneth is struggling for fitness as he tries to reignite his season.  Following encouraging early showings he found life tougher at Birmingham and on the big Sheffield circuit still carrying wrist and leg injuries from the previous night Kenneth was less than 100% and the scorechart reflected this.  He hopes to get back to form tonight against Birmingham in the Premier Trophy at Derwent Park.

11 points in first meeting at Glasgow Posted on 1 Apr 07

The Comets went down 54-39 at Glasgow this afternoon without James Wright who was hurt last night at Derwent Park and you can only wonder how different it would have been with him in the side.  Kenneth showed up well on another new track for him including a 3rd place ahead of Shane Parker in heat 15.  Kenneth will learn so much in the Premier League this season with so many different tracks to race on compared to the small selection he is used to from the Danish Superleague.

Paid for 9 points against Sheffield Posted on 1 Apr 07

Kenneth recorded two race wins including the scalp of impressive guest rider George Stancl last night on the way to a paid 9 score as Workington beat Sheffield 49-41.  The Comets had to get over the loss of big scoring James Wright after an opening race crash and showed a lot of togetherness and determination to get on with the job and beat Sheffield.  Kenneth made some good passing movements in the meeting on the way to his score and was nominated to race in heat 15 with Kauko Nieminen but his bike let him down in the end.

Kenneth a Comet? Posted on 23 Nov 06

We have the pleasure of revealing that Kenneth Hansen will be racing for the Workington Comets in 2007.  He is very excited about linking up with the team and racing in the Premier League on a track that he loves and for fans that he likes too.  His performance in the Cumberland Classic and his evident liking for the Derwent Park circuit has helped Kenneth to decide on his first British club with others showing interest in him too.  It is expected that the news will be officially released by the local media around Friday lunchtime.

British League in 2007? Posted on 22 Nov 06

Kenneth has been very busy in the past few weeks speaking to Polish clubs and to one British League club in particular.  Their name will remain a secret at the moment but it seems hopeful that Kenneth will race in the British League next season.  More news when we can release it!

Wolves and Redcar news Posted on 22 Nov 06

Kenneth enjoyed his end of season stop-start tour of England scoring 3 points in each of the Wolverhampton and Redcar showpiece meetings.  He recorded a race win in each event as he tried to get used to the tracks.  A particular highlight came at Monmore Green as he was passed by home rider and ex-World Champion Billy Hamill then he cut underneath Hamill to almost pass him straight away.  The move didn't quite come off but the crowd saw some of the raw potential that the young Dane has.

Kenneth reaches Semi Final in Golden Ribbon Posted on 14 Oct 06

Today Kenneth reached the semi final in the Czech Golden Ribbon meeting in Pardubice, Czech Republic.  Kenneth was 4th top scorer in the heats with 12 from his 4 races (4 for a win, 3 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd) before he finished last in the first semi final behind Tomicek, Vaculik, Pavlic and Zengota where a top 3 place would have seen his through to the 6 rider grand final. Wolves rider Christian Hefenbrock won the meeting with an immaculate performance winning every race he competed in.  Next up is the famous Banks's Olympique at Wolves on Monday night.

Kenneth and partner win Slangerup pairs event Posted on 14 Oct 06

Last weekend Kenneth scored 20 points out of a possible 21 as he and Svend Hansen won the final event of the season at his home track of Slangerup.  Other riders in the meeting included Belle Vue Ace Kenneth Bjerre and Klaus Jakobsen but Kenneth was in blistering form to end the Danish season on a high note.  Next up is the Czech Golden Helmet at Pardubice this weekend then a 2nd trip to the UK to race in the prestigious Banks's Olympique and the South Tees Silver Helmet.

Message from Kenneth to the Workington Fans Posted on 26 Sep 06

Kenneth had a debut to feel proud of at Workington on Saturday and this lunchtime we spoke to him and he was very pleased with the emails, guestbook entries and messages from the Comets fans.  "I liked the track and the fans were amazing, the noise they made after the races as I went round was really special and I enjoyed myself there." Kenneth went on to say that he was disappointed to fall in heat 6 behind Franc who seemed to slow in front of Kenneth when he had plenty of pace to get round him.  Kenneth is currently considering his options for 2007 with offers to race in Sweden, Poland and the UK as well as his native Denmark.  More news on this as it happens...

Encouraging start for Kenneth in the UK Posted on 23 Sep 06

Kenneth scored 9 from 5 in a good debut that saw him record 2 wins over the likes of Elite League rider Richard Hall, Craig Branney, highly-rated Chris Holder and Daniel King.  It could have been 12 from 5 but for a fall chasing Josef Franc in heat 6 but his all-action totally committed style that will surely endear him to the British fans saw him push his luck.  All-in-all a decent start on a track that he had never seen before as Kenneth hopes to get a British League place for 2007.  This showing should make many people sit up and take notice, all this from an 18 year old racing for the first time in Britain.  Hopefully we'll have his reaction from the meeting to post on here soon.

Kenneth prepares to make British debut Posted on 21 Sep 06

Kenneth makes his British debut on Saturday (23rd) at Workington as he competes in the Cumberland Classic.  Kenneth is keen to race in the British League in 2007 and this is a chance to get himself known by the notoriously wise British fans!

4 from 4 in WU21 Team Cup Final Posted on 18 Sep 06

Denmark finished with 26 points finishing a point behind Sweden in the World Under 21 Cup Final at Rybnik, Poland at the weekend.  Kenneth lined-up as the Danish reserve and came in with a creditable 2nd place behind Pawel Hlib in heats 11 and 19 beating Tobias Kroner of Ipswich and Ricky Kling.  He unfortunately failed to complete heat 17.  The meeting was won by Poland led by World Under 21 Individual Champion Karol Zabik who scored 13 from 5 rides.

Paid 10 points in DSL Final 2nd Leg Posted on 2 Sep 06

Kenneth scored 7+3 for Slangerup as they lost 50-46 at Holsted in the second leg of the Danish Superleague Final.  The title goes to Nicki Pedersen-led Holsted with an aggregate 101-94 win.  Kenneth was again the "fighter" on the night and fighter of the season for the Slangerup team.  He has also been called up into Denmark's team for the World Under 21 Cup Final in Rybnik, Poland to be held on Sun 17 Sep.  The other 4 riders are Henrik Moller who Edinburgh fans will know well, Slangerup team-mate Klaus Jakobsen, Coventry man Morten Risager and Nicolai Klindt.

Paid 11 points in DSL Final 1st Leg  Posted on 24 Aug 06

Kenneth scored 7+4 from 6 rides at Slangerup in the DSL Final 1st leg 48-51 defeat against Holsted last night.  On a track that had withstood rain for 2 days running and having enlisted the help of the fire department to suck water off the track Kenneth opened with a last place but a change of bike saw improved performances.  Kenneth looked fast after that and fell in the last race whilst attempting a big move on Niels Kristian Iversen (PUK) with Nicki Pedersen ahead of him.  He was named the "Fighter" for the evening which is similar to the "man of the meeting" award in the UK.  Next up is the second leg next Wednesday at Holsted.

6 points in European Junior Final  Posted on 21 Aug 06

Kenneth scored 6 points in the European Junior Final on Saturday in Croatia failign to finish in 2 of those programmed races.  The night was a forgettable for the Hansen camp but home favourite Jurica Pavlic won the meeting to send many Croatians home very happy.  Next to the DSL Final 1st leg at Slangerup as Kenneth and co. take on Holsted.

Slangerup into DSL Final Posted on 17 Aug 06

Slangerup SSK won 52-44 in Outrup last night to book their place in the Danish Speedway League (DSL) Final.  Kenneth scored 4+1 from 5 rides including a tapes exclusion but led by Kenneth Bjerre and Coventy's Chris "Bomber" Harris the team avenged their recent close defeat at Outrup in fine style.  Slangerup will now meet Holsted in the final to decide the DSL Champions over 2 legs, the first leg will be at Slangerup next Wednesday (22 Aug).

4th place in Danish Under 21 Final Lottery Posted on 13 Aug 06

On Saturday (12th) Kenneth reached the A final of the Danish Under 21 Final which would have seen him line-up against K Jakobsen, P Hougaard and declared winner Nicolai Klindt.  Due to rain the final was washed out and the final result decided by a draw!!! Kenneth therefore ended up in 4th place after scoring 12 points in the heats.  Next up on Wednesday is the DSL semi final between Outrup and Slangerup as Slangerup look for revenge after a recent narrow defeat in the league. 11+2 scored in narrow defeat at Outrup Posted on 2 Aug 06

A disappointed Kenneth called earlier with the good news of another good showing on an at times tricky surface in Outrup in the Danish Speedway League (DSL) this evening.  A score of paid 13 from 5 rides saw Kenneth line-up in the super-race (top scorers race) but he and partner Kenneth Bjerre were unable to get the heat advantage required and the Slangerup side went down by just 3.  Following on from the superb Danish under 21 win with the new engine tonight's efforts should hopefully make promoters and team managers around the world sit up and take notice.  Slangerup will return to Outrup for the DSL semi final on Wed 16 August.

Kenneth wins Danish under 21 championship Semi Final! Posted on 31 Jul 06

Great news from Brovst speedway in Denmark from Sunday's Danish under 21 semi final.  Kenneth won the round scoring 12 points in the heats including a fall and then won the A final to book his place in the final where he will fancy his chances of a medal.  Kenneth is very happy with his win and it seems that some debris on the track caused his fall and he could well have scored a full maximum otherwise.

European Semi Final woes Posted on 29 Jul 06

In Saturday's European semi final from Orebro in Sweden Kenneth had a less than memorable meeting scoring just 3 points from his 5 starts, better luck tomorrow in the Danish under 21 semi final.

Kenneth top scores for Denmark Posted on 28 Jul 06

Kenneth top scored for the visitors with 9 points from 5 races in Denmark's  62-28 defeat to Sweden in the under 21 international in Gothenburg on Sun 16 July 06.  The score would have been better but for him losing his steel shoe whilst leading his last race and having to settle for 3rd place.  Kenneth set the fastest time of the meeting.
